CAPE COD, MA: THE HOME OF PRETTY HOMES

The main thing I did in Cape Cod this weekend was drool over pretty houses and taking pictures with them. I saw other people doing the same, so I don't feel too weird about it!
Massachusetts is so nice in September! The weather is right on the edge between summer and fall. The trees are green. The weather is warm during the day and cool in the evening. All the summer tourists seem to have gone home for the beginning of school. This means there is so much more room on the road, in the shops on Main Street, and at the beach!
My mom and I stayed at Wequassett Resort and Golf Club. I love this resort because of how quaint it is! When you pull up you feel like you are pulling into a luxurious campground, not a cookie-cutter hotel. This resort is made up of maybe five or ten units where the hotel rooms are located, and one big building next to the waterfront which has two restaurants, event space, and the pool deck nearby.
The day my Mom took these pictures, she and I were exploring the town of Chatham, Massachusetts, which is right down the road from the Wequassett.
On Main Street, there are plenty of restaurants where you can have your fill of lobster, of course. Mom and I stopped a split lobster quesadillas, which are actually a thing! There are also shops selling everything from antiques to high-end brands. One thing I really like about the East Coast, especially up North, is how put together everyone is dressed! I see so many structured clothing. It all looks so organized and a little old school. Of course, the houses there are darling too! I don't think I saw one not-cute house. I really like the style and atmosphere on the East Coast.
Mom and I went whale watching one of the days we were there and were amazed at how many we saw! I overheard that the highest count this season was 64 whales on one trip. We saw around 20 and got a really up-close view of two that were napping close to the surface of the water. The sunset coming back was also AMAZING, but mom and I didn't try to snap photos of it. We sat back and enjoyed the ride and each others' company.
I'm so fortunate to have a close friendship with my mom. I know so many girls don't have that and a lot can't. I love her advice and cherish her company. I'd encourage every girl out there to find a godly lady to become a motherly figure in your life. One of the BEST places to find a woman like this is in church. Just imagine getting together with a lady for coffee (pumpkin spice latte, anyone?) once a week and taking the time to pause to talk about life and Jesus. It's so refreshing and can help you become the woman you want to become by watching someone who has been there and done that!
Another great source for women friends is BSF, which starts this week! The last time I joined Bible Study Fellowship, in college (Go Razorbacks!) , I remember thoroughly enjoying the time with all the ladies in my small group to hear their varying perspectives on life and encouragement for the spots I was in.
I'd love to hear about motherly figures in your life that have helped shape you and continue to. Use the comment section below! It's so important to find a role model and guide. Quickly read over Proverbs 31 or see the snippet below. See if you can find a woman who reminds of the woman portrayed there. That's the type of woman I want to be. I know that someone who is like the Proverbs 31 woman can help me get there too!
“ 'Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.' Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate." Proverbs 31: 29-31
